Hold onto your hats, kids — here’s a PopGurls Update!
+ 90210 — Deja Vu All Over Again?
This is not a recap. This is not really a review. These are simply our reactions. Shame and sanity were left at the door.
CLASS DRAMA, IN-LAW DRAMA, and ALCOHOLISM. All these important issues must be in caps — otherwise the very special-iality of these issues wouldn’t be as apparent.
+ A Quickie With Renee Loux
The host of Fine Living Network’s It’s Easy Being Green talks about easy ways to go organic, relax and how it’s really a small world after all.
+ A Quickie With Author Sara Zarr
She talks about her writing process, step-parents in literature and, of course, potatoes.

Or is she?
For those following the casting news of the new 90210 spin-off, the latest gossip is that my favorite and (better be) yours, Shannen Doherty might INDEED be back to reprise her role as Brenda Walsh. My heart honestly did a little joyful flip when I read that this morning, and my co-workers and I have been all aflutter.
It seems that money is a sticking point here, but if the producers want ratings gold they need to give Doherty what she wants. She will be worth every dollar in her pocket as fans who tuned in 18 (my god!) years ago will tune-in in droves.
I’m so embarrassingly excited about this possibility!

Kevin Lima just might be the Zac Efron of the Disney set. If only all the 12-and-under girls knew more about him, he’d be pursued by excited fans, giddy about talking to the man who’s worked with several Disney Princesses. The latest princess being Enchanted’s Giselle [Amy Adams], who crashes into Times Square after being pushed into a magical well by an Evil Queen [Susan Sarandon]. It’s a very charming movie, a stunning showcase for Amy Adams who will certainly win fans of all ages.
Kevin talks to us about directing Enchanted (where he was also voiced Pip, the Squirrel, in New York), Disney Princesses and gives some advice for aspiring animators.

Jon Shestack is a movie and television producer with an impressive resume that includes Air Force One, The Last Seduction, End Of Days and PopGurls favorite, Bring It On.
His latest in theaters now is Dan In Real Life, starring The Office’s Steve Carell, Dane Cook, and Juliette Binoche. Next up is Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner, and Escape From Planet Earth.
Jon talks to us about Dan in Real Life, what it takes to be a film producer (and what that really is, anyway) and what you’d be surprised to learn about Steve Carell.

Ed Westwick, it must be said, sounds absolutely nothing like he does on The CW’s Gossip Girl. Which is certainly not a bad thing, but it is a bit disarming once his deep British accent rumbles across the phone line. In fact it’s so disarming that I’ve now decided that it’s a good thing that he plays the role of Chuck Bass with an American accent because, honestly, it would be way too distracting and fans would be even more conflicted in their lust for Chuck — Gossip Girl’s undisputed bad boy.
Ed spoke with PopGurls about why he loves playing Chuck, who he thinks Chuck wants to sleep with and why comparisons with James Spader’s Stef in Pretty in Pink are a little off the mark.

Can I just say that it took me a while to edit our interview with Jessica Conant-Park because there were so many delectable descriptions of food? Each one made me want to leave the computer and pre-heat the oven in preparation of tasty goodness.
Which, I suppose, is to be expected — Jessica and her mother write ChickLit mysteries about Chloe, a “food connoisseur on a quest for the perfect meal and man.” The Gourmet Girl books mix engaging characters, snarky fun and utterly delectable recipes.
A Quickie with Jessica Conant-Park
We’re giving away two copies each of Jessica and Susan Conant’s books, Steamed and Simmer Down. We’ll select four people at random who send an e-mail to freestuff@popgurls.com with the subject line GOURMET GIRL to get a free copy of one of the Gourmet Girl books.

PopGurls Interview: The 4400’s Patrick Flueger
Patrick talks to PopGurls about The 4400, his new movies and what it’s like to see his old high school photos (makeup and all) on the web.
A Quickie with Author Elizabeth Scott
With one book out, Elizabeth Scott is poised to make a huge splash in the YA pool. Bloom was chosen as a Borders Original Voices selection and a Books-A-Million Teen Book Club selection, and reviews have made very favorable comparisons to YA favorites Sarah Dessen and Deb Caletti.

Josh Schwartz has an enviable position – or an unenviable one, depending on how you look at it. The wunderkind creator of The O.C. got good news from two channels this May at the Upfronts, where many found disappointment. He’s got two shows premiering this fall – NBC’s Chuck, which revolves around a normal guy who inadvertently downloads a computer server of government secrets into his brain, and Gossip Girl for The CW. Based on the popular YA book series, it follows the lives and relationships of privileged teenagers from New York’s Upper East Side.
Now that reality has set in and storylines need to be broken, Josh takes a quick break to talk to PopGurls about his new shows, fan response and what it’s like to be called out by This American Life’s Ira Glass.
