There has been a lot of extremely deserved buzz around Adele’s performance of “Someone Like You” last night on the VMAs. I don’t really have much to add except that I keep replaying it and it really doesn’t matter if I’m watching it or not — it packs the same punch. And even though I’m years removed and healed from my broken heart, the tiny bit of pain that still exists swirls up like a tornado inside me. I’m not so teary anymore and maybe it’s a good reminder that I can love someone like that, despite all my forced jokes about my Spinster fate.
I’m so not well-versed in all things music world and I’m the furthest from a music snob (I’ll judge you on your choice of television shows first), but this is the first time I saw Adele do the song and it just broke me up.
